Picture of Samsung Galaxy Note Pro leaks
Samsung is rumored to be working on a 12.2 inch Galaxy Note tablet that will supposedly be named the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro. Being a member of the Galaxy Note family means that it should have an S Pen and with a name like "Pro," Sammy could be looking to position this as a laptop replacement for the businessman on the go.
Last month, a 12.2 inch Samsung slate visited the FCC. The original rumored specs for the tablet included a resolution of 2560 x 1600 on the screen and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 under the hood. 3GB of RAM is believed to be aboard along with 32GB of native storage. The back and front cameras are said to weigh in at 8MP and 2MP respectively. And Android 4.3 is expected to be pre-installed out of the box.
While we've seen a render of the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro, on Friday a picture showing the back of the device was part of a published report. Along with the photo, the report says that instead of Android 4.3, we should now expect Android 4.4 to be loaded on the slate out of the box. In addition, the report notes that the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro will be powered by a 9500mAh battery.
We should see the device displayed next month at CES in Las Vegas.
New ad for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 brings holiday cheer
Samsung has a new ad for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet that spreads holiday cheer, instead of pushing the features of the device. There are no shots taken at Apple, no video showing Lebron James and his Miami Heat teammates enjoying the device while prepping for their third straight NBA title . Instead, the ad (which is called Holiday Reflections) shows a small town during the holiday season and the Samsung Galaxy Note turns the town into a series of animated scenes.
Whether it is a couple sawing down a Christmas tree, carolers, some one figure skating on a pond while another skater falls on his butt, there is nothing but good cheer in this commercial. Yes, this is the time of the year when cut throat competition takes a break. But Samsung can't relax too long. Almost immediately after we celebrate the beginning of a new year, the industry gathers in Las Vegas for CES 2014. Add to that MWC 2014 in Barcelona late in February, and after just 8 weeks we'll have a good idea about which direction the mobile industry will be heading in 2014.
But there will be time later to think about all that. Right now, Samsung just wants to say Happy Holidays.
An update brings new features to snapchat in IOS
How hot is Snapchat? Consider that earlier this year, it raised money at a valuation of $800 million. Now the company has allegedly rejected a $3 billion offer from Facebook. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's take a step back for those Rip Van Winkles out there. Snapchat is a messaging app that has one important feature. The photo and video messages sent using the service disappear after ten seconds, never to be seen again. That is, unless you take a screenshot of it.
The Snapchat for iOS app has been updated to version 6.1 and includes some new features including one called "Replay". With this app turned on, users can see a Snapchat message that has already self-destructed. However, you're limited to using "Replay" on one Snapchat message per day, one time only.
The update also allows you to add information to your snaps including the time and temperature when you took the photo or video. You can even tack on to your disposable message, the speed that your device was traveling at when you took the snap. Besides three filters like Black and White, Sepia and Vintage, there are some other new features that have been added to the app with the new update, including a front-facing flash for night time selfies, and Snapchat users can designate up to seven people to be on their 'best friend' menu.. The new filters can be found at Settings > Additional Services > Manage.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini La Fleur Edition revealed
Samsung is back with another La Fleur remake, this time for its Galaxy S4 Mini. The S4 Mini La Fleur Edition has been officially presented in Germany, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be released before the end of the year. Instead, it’s expected to go on sale in January.
Reportedly, the Galaxy S4 Mini La Fleur will cost around $568 (€417). That’s about $140 higher than the price of a regular S4 Mini (unlocked). We don’t think the handset is worth that much, although some may find its flowery patterns attractive enough to just go ahead and buy it.
Early next year is also when the Galaxy S4 Mini will seemingly get a Black Edition. Both the S4 Mini La Fleur and S4 Mini Black Edition should have the same specs as the current version of the smartphone, including a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display with 540 x 960 pixels, 1.5GB of RAM and a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor. Android Jelly Bean should be on board, but a KitKat update may arrive shortly after the twoS4 Mini variants hit the shelves.
![]() GTA San-Andreas got released on android after a bump: We knew that the Android version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was on the way, and Rockstar Games was on a deadline, but the game was not really ready when it first hit the Google Play Store. | GTA: San Andreas launched yesterday, and quickly gathered over 1,700 1-star reviews because the game simply didn't work at all on most devices. Rockstar got to work and released a patch for the game today, which appears to have fixed the issues. Some users are still reporting some lag with the game, but even so the vast majority of the reviews posted today have rated the game at 4 or 5-stars. So, it seems like it is finally safe to purchase the game, if you are so inclined. GTA: San Andreas will cost you $6.99 and requires Android 3.0 and higher, but the game is also 2.4GB, so you'll want to be sure you have the space cleared and you may also want to plan some Wi-Fi time before downloading. The game launched on iOS last week, and is due out on Windows Phone fairly soon as well, but it has yet to be released there. How to set up your iphone as a wifi mobile hotspot?(IOS 7 tutorial): Have you ever been in a situation where you are on the go - staying at a hotel or just camping outdoors - and have either your tablet or laptop with you, but no Wi-Fi in sight? It’s frustrating to not be able to do all those things you do on the web. Hey, we are not even speaking about checking out cat videos! We mean logging in to your Facebook or going through your mail. If you have your iPhone with you, though, there is an easy way to get your second device - be it a laptop or a tablet - connected. Good news is that it is all very simple to do. You should just follow the few simple steps below and even novices will be able to get it up and running in no time. The only thing you need is a data plan on your phone, but this is an important requirement. Keep in mind that the Wi-Fi mobile hotspot that you create uses your phone data plan and can easily gobble up through your data allowance in no time. This is a recipe for cell phone bill disaster if not controlled, so make sure to use this with proper caution: use the hotspot when you have an unlimited data plan or just make sure to keep your usage in check and do not start any heavy downloads (downloading a full-featured movie can easily eat up your data). In case you are curious, we ought to mention that we have used an iPhone 5s with the latest iOS 7 version for this. Since an overwhelming majority of iOS users are now updated to iOS 7 and there is very little fragmentation on Apple’s ecosystem, you can easily follow this tutorial for all other iOS 7 devices. Follow the steps below to create a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, iPad 2 and later, as well as the iPod touch 5th generation. |
![]() Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, 10.1, and Note Pro 12.2 release dates revealed, cheap Tab 3 Lite to appear the soonest
| The names and release dates of Samsung's expected four new tablets have been tipped, and they jibe with the information earlier in the day that some of them might carry the Pro moniker. Actually, three of the four seem to be adorned with "Pro" in their title - Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320/T325), Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (SM-T520/T525), and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (SM-P900/P905), while the budget Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110/T111) is the only one left out of the professional league. The Pros will apparently have 4G LTE versions as well, while the Tab 3 Lite will only sport a 3G variation, which can be expected ат its speculated low price of EUR 100. The cheapest member of the bunch will allegedly appear the soonest, in week two of the new year, carrying a 7" display, and a Cream White chassis, while the Pros will arrive clad in both black and white. Moving on, in week six, or some time after mid-February, we'll likely see announcements for the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, with the respective screen sizes, while at the end of February, just in time for the MWC expo, we will be meeting a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. All tablets are said to start off with 16 GB of internal storage, claim the insiders, except for the Note Pro 12.2, which will ship with 32 GB memory, indicating once again that Samsung might have bigger plans for it as a content creation device. That last one is said to sport a 2560x1600 pixels display, 3 GB of RAM, quad-core Snapdragon, and a 9500 mAh battery, while the Tab Pro 8.4 and Pro 10.1 could flaunt Super AMOLED displays. |
![]() Custom ROMs updated for Android 4.4 KitKat:
It's been months now since Android 4.4 KitKat was officially unveiled, yet users' craze is showing no signs of fading away. And craze is by no means and overstatement, as we've hardly ever seen as strong an interest in a new version of Android. So much so, that we actually suspect the sugary name of the latest version has played its role of promoting the new update quite well. | But it's not all branding. Android 4.4 KitKat brings more optimizations than ever, the brilliant new Dialer with smart caller ID, immersive mode, screen recording and a moderate visual update, and quite a few more. It's a version of Android that's truly worth having, and yet, at least for now, it remains the exclusive privilege of some Nexus devices (and since earlier today – the Moto X). This is where the custom Android ROM-building community comes in, often offering the newest update for devices that would otherwise have to wait for a long, long time to get one. If ever.
Now, KitKat is still fairly new, and unfortunately, the custom ROMs that have been updated with Android 4.4 are both considered to be in the 'nightlies' phase and the list of supported devices is still pretty thin. Regardless, some of the bigger dev teams are, reportedly, already very hard at work, and we should see both a wider range of supported devices and choice of custom ROMs. Do keep in mind that these are considered 'unstable' and we haven't had the chance to test how stable each and everyone of them is. Suffices to say, however, that your device is pretty unlikely to melt down, and it's usually plenty easy to revert back to your stock firmware, should you end up not liking the less-refined nature of custom Android ROMs |
![]() ![]() | Alleged Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) version appears on AnTuTu with 2.5 GHz chipset and 3 GB of RAM:
An eventual Samsung Galaxy S5 candidate has been unearthed, under the codename SM-G900F, in AnTuTu's benchmark database, just as it appeared in Browsermark not long ago. The handset seems restricted to 1080p display resolution, despite the numerous rumors about it sporting a 2K HD, 1440x2560 pixels screen. Alleged Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) version appears on AnTuTu with 2.5 GHz chipset and 3 GB of RAM It, however, flaunts the fastest Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset - MSM8974AC - clocked at 2.5 GHz, has 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal memory. A 2 MP front shooter is detected, and a generous 16 MP camera, likely the one with ISOCELL technology that Samsung bragged about not long ago. Now, this could be just a working prototype of the Galaxy S5, though this late in the game, with an eventual Q1 launch, Samsung is probably hitting the conveyor belts with the handset already. Alternatively, there might be a more premium brand from Samsung next year, the elusive F-series handsets we heard about, which will sport the rumored 2K flagship with metallic chassis and 64-bit Exynos processor. Let's not forget that we had an SM-G900S leaked not long ago, and this one was listed with 1440x2560 screen, plus the same 2.5 GHz chipset, while an SM-G900A was claimed to be in testing by AT&T, so there are obviously plenty of Galaxy S5 versions floating around at the moment. |
The new Immersive mode introduced with Android 4.4 KitKat sounded like a God-given for game developers and app makers alike. It allows games and apps to take over the whole screen while previously devices with on-screen buttons would only dim the buttons but they would still annoyingly be on the display and, moreover, you could accidentally push a button and exit an app.
The Immersive mode solves all those issues and it’s already available in some apps and games, but the number is scant. We reached out to Gameloft to ask about one of Android’s biggest game studios plan.
Good news is that the company that makes titles like the Modern Combat, NOVA and Asphalt series is well aware of the arrival of the new option and its engineers are actively “looking into it,” according to Gameloft Product PR Thomas Price. However - sadly - it has not yet optimized any of the games and does not yet have definite plans to do so.
Why, you might wonder. We don’t know the exact reason, but we’d guess that the number of devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat is yet to reach a critical mass. The only devices running 4.4 KitKat at the moment are Nexus phones and Google Play edition devices. The massive roll-out is about to happen early next year. We would expect the bigger game makers to start implementing the new Immersive mode about then.
